Took a ride out to TTS Performance Link yesterday (3/1/15). It was raining and the temperature was around 3 Deg C (37 Deg F) but the roads had been washed by the rain and the grip was pretty good. I fancied just getting out on the bike despite the weather. In preparation I decided to fit a pinlock clear shield to my visor, which I was impressed with, apart from the template was crap and I should have gone with my instincts and measured it myself. O'well the extra 2 holes in my visor actually helped a great deal with misting up of the old spectacles

The route from my place to TTS is a good biking route

Plenty of fast swooping bends between villages. I've found that a cheap all in one rain suit over my normal gear keeps the rain and wind out pretty well, and together with heated gloves I was comfortable. I also use a Sena bluetooth coupled to my smart phone for Google music and Maps. So the ride was made all the better with a bit of Artic Monkeys, Airbourne and Kasabien blasting out. Funny enough I find foam ear plugs stop the wind but let the music through better than without plugs.

The ride takes you straight past Silverstone racetrack. There's a couple of straight sections of approach road there that you can enjoy when it's quiet

Arrived at TTS around 11 AM and met Richard the owner. Nice chap who's done a lot of stuff, including drag racing motorbikes! He has a Thunderbird in the workshop being supercharged that looks like a very interesting project for those of us who love the bike, but would like a little extra power, and if I'm honest, kudos at that future bike event

The ride back was even wetter but it was one of those rides where it just doesn't matter. I don't ride enough without a schedule. The roads were empty, the bike was feeling locked in on the road and responsive, and my mind was in the zone......sometimes you feel like you don't want the journey to end when you get near home

Took about 40 mins to wash and dry the bike. My wife thinks i'm mad

Looks like you had a good one.

I went out to Sutton Courtenay near Oxford on Friday. Mainly motorway on the way to but took mainly A roads on the way back.

You mentioned you used Sena bluetooth speakers. Is the device waterproof?

Yes it's a Sena smh5 and I've always used it all weather. It's not speakers it's a headset with speakers in the ear holes in the lid. I'm happy with it. Friday was a nice day from what I remember

Got the same fever. Went out today for a 100 km ride in 3 degrees C, wet roads but no rain or snow. Instead a lot of f.....ing salt. I had to clean it up after the ride but still had a lot of fun being the only bike around..
Best Elmar

The salts a killer! I wash my bike down and dry it off after nearly every ride this time of year. Good to hear from you Elmar

In the North East this time of year we ride snowmobiles or 4 wheelers .... I love snowmobiling as much as riding a bike, both have a short season here
